Economies of scale

Economies of scale are no excuse for homeless children, 
Jobless youths at the corner shop and what is need?
(Where once was food and shelter) 
Now the greed has dipped us sideways on the Maslow scale, 
Where the pyramid is bottom dropped with manufactured market want.

I timed it last night, a half hour of radio, 
I counted the number of times money, gods of excess took the brunt of truth 
Decay—19 times in 30 minutes 
the brittle broadcast voice told us to 
Fear and bow and scrape.

Growth, consumer confidence—all words for evolution 
Trained to conquer, trained to kill.
