Sinuous ribbon, source to mouth and 
Back up the bank,
The river's decanting desire.

Languid melt pours downstream
Ice crush stonedrops to the 
Ochre claybed and
Whirlwater warms to the
Surface in sun.

This rush, smoothing way for the
Carry of spring, 
Cascades from vessel in granite to
Sea foam and sand.

This depth, dewy and tar black and damp,
Slithers heavy wet bulk
Down the length of its run.
